The Spectacular Spider-Man: The Complete First Season on DVD!

This adventure series finds our hero tackling more Super Villains, both old and new, including Chameleon, Venom and the Sinister Six: Electro, Doctor Octopus, Vulture, Sandman, Rhino and Shocker. While these criminals are almost more than Spidey can handle, his real struggle becomes an internal one. The stress is enough to drive a high school Super Hero over the edge, but making mistakes and learning lessons is all in a days work for the Spectacular Spider-Man!

Sony Pictures Home Entertainment has announced the July 28th release of The Spectacular Spider-Man - The Complete 1st Season, coming on 2 DVDs for $25.95 SRP. This collects all of the content previously released on single-disc titles, and adds two "all-new behind the scenes Spidey features". Running time is 299 minutes, with anamorphic widescreen video, English 5.1 audio (and a French 2.0 option), English subtitles and closed captioning for the hearing impaired. The new featurettes are titled "Spider-man: Re-Animated" and "Stylizing Spidey". Below is an early look at the front cover art, which is still subject to change, and farther down is a look at the trade ad we extracted it from (click the images to enlarge):

More From Michael Papajohn on Spider-Man 4

Last week, we received word that actor Michael Papajohn might be back for Spider-Man 4. Scooper 'Wolf' tried to follow up with him on Saturday and here's the result:

I was over at the weekly comic book show Frank & Son over in Industry, CA, and while I was walking around with my uncle we suddenly ran into Michael Papajohn. I wouldn't have noticed him except for the pictures he had all over his signing desk. He's a real funny guy - trying to sell us autographs and telling us about how the Lakers beat him out of the main table. Anyways, I asked him about Spider Man 4 because of the rumor I read that he was going to be in it. He said "I can't talk about it, but who says I died in the first one?" My uncle asked him again and he quipped "if I tell you I'll have to shoot you." Jokingly, of course. That's all I got.

Michael Papajohn Returning for Spider-Man 4?

Scooper 'Cassassin' sent us the following note today about Spider-Man actor Michael Papajohn:

During a Q&A with Ted Raimi and Michael Papajohn at Wizard World Philadelphia today, Papajohn (aka the carjacker/original killer of Uncle Ben from the Spider-Man films) said that he would be reprising his role for Spider-Man 4. He then proceeded to say if he told us what his role entailed, he'd have to kill us.

If this will indeed happen, it will be interesting to see why they still need to show the character in another film considering what happened in the third installment.

"Spider-Man 4" is scheduled for a May 6, 2011 release.
